![]() ![]() Even on Tuesday, as a Valentine’s Day winter storm shut down the Avalon Peninsula, Lee was getting the B&B’s two units ready for couples who had booked in for a romantic getaway and were keeping the reservation. By that night, she was completely booked for the foreseeable future and has enjoyed steady business ever since, and not just in the summer months. When the facility - which includes two guest units, a jacuzzi, a heated pool and a fire pit - was completed in August 2021, Lee put a photo of it on a Facebook page for Newfoundland and Labrador “staycation” accommodations. When Penney died in April 2021, Lee felt guided to continue the construction as guest accommodations, calling it Mom’s Place in her mother’s honour. The B&B spot was originally meant to be a place for her mom, Margaret Penney, after she had taken ill.
